Ellen Humphrey is a licensed physical therapist with 25 years of experience
in orthopedics, sports medicine and women’s health. She is a well-regarded
local clinician known for her good-natured, calm, caring and professional
manner. She has achieved recognition from the American Physical Therapy
Association as a Certified Orthopedic
Ms. Humphrey is the creator of Posture Palooza, a small spa like boutique PT
practice in Lake Forest Illinois. She is also a physical
therapist at Northwestern Lake Forest
Hospital Sports Medicine where she is considered a specialist in
gait and posture evaluation, manual therapy and mentor to fellow clinicians.
Ellen can see patients at either site depending on patient preference,
goals and needs.
Ellen holds a Masters degree in Physical Therapy from Stanford University. She
has published in several peer-reviewed journals and lectured extensively around
the country. Ellen has served on the faculties of both Northwestern University
Department of Physical Therapy and Human Movement Sciences and Boston
University Sargent College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences.
Ellen’s faculty responsibilities included coordinating the Advanced
Musculoskeletal and Clinical Orthopedics courses and teaching gait and shoulder
mechanics within the Kinesiology courses.
An avid runner, platform tennis player and skier, Ellen understands the
athlete. In addition, she has worked as a Certified Athletic Trainer for club
level Men’s Rugby at University of Colorado, Boulder and Stanford University
and as a spine consultant within the athletic training department at Harvard
Ellen is creator and frequent participant in the Runner’s and Walker’s
Screening Clinics offered bi-annually at Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital
Sports Medicine. Her personal interest in running biomechanics and many
postgraduate studies in gait evaluation and orthotics fabrication allow her to
help athletes with difficult chronic problems that others have been unable to
